Toskánský palace

Hradčany, Hradčanské nám.5

Early Baroque building of J.B. Mathey was built around 1690 at the wish of Count Michal Osvald from Thun. Michal Osvald became so indebted after its construction that his offspring has to sell the palace to the dukes of the Toskánský family. It was thoroughly reconstructed between November 1995 and February 1998. During the reconstruction, wall frescoes from the 17th century were discovered. The palace is in use by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs which is his owner. The public is allowed to part of the ground floor which is used for exhibitions and social gatherings.
